IMPORTANT!
REHEARSE YOUR RACE NUTRITION
Experience has told us that a lot of participants fail to rehearse their race nutrition!
It is equally
as important to rehearse race nutrition as it is to work on fitness levels!
We therefore recommend
participants to train with
pb nutrition products
prior to race day.
pb fluid and electrolyte replacement can be ordered here.
The Lion Island Challenge – October 2009
Once again The Lion Island Challenge lived up to its name with more than 162 competitors taking to the water in what can only be described as truly tough conditions. For the experienced it also has proved to be one of the best ski races in the Northern Beaches Ocean series. The organisers made the most of the conditions, putting a buoy well out to sea off Palm Beach, right in the thick of the swell. This meant that the run from Palm Beach back to Lion Island brought a grin to the faces of fit, experienced downwind paddlers.
A part of the Sydney Northern Beaches ' Ocean Series ', the Lion Island Challenge is the only challenge set in Sydney's beautiful Pittwater, and is the pioneer competition with both a board division and a ski division.
It runs every year in October. Competitiors meet on the Pittwater side of beautiful Palm Beach under the gaze of the historic Light House. The Board Race couse ventures across Pittwater to Lion Island, around a marker buoy, and return to the start area.
This challenge is both run and coordinated by Avalon Beach SLSC volunteers.
The North Face 100
The
pinnacle of trail running in Australia - The North Face 100 - delivered
over the weekend with nearly 400 keen runners lining up to complete
this grueling course including around 4,200m of elevation and so many
stairs that we didn't dare count them! The race was an
overwhelming success with a lot of positive comments from the runners.
And a couple of broken race record as well, so all in all, a very
satisfying weekend of racing!
