Recreation
Manager, Martin Mark, said shortly after the event,
"The venue was fantastic, and to hear so many complimentary
comments from all the competitors, especially both
winners of the event was fantastic. The success
of this event is in no small way attributable to
the volunteer support and sponsorship provided from
the local community, to which all event organisers
and competitors are extremely grateful." |

The
Townsville Marathon
Townsville Road Runners
have conducted a Marathon in Townsville every year
since 1972. Over the period of time it became the
premier road running event in regional Queensland.
It comprises a marathon, half marathon, 10.5k fun
run, and 5k junior fun run / walk. This year's Townsville
Running Festival was held at the historic Tobruk
Pool on Sunday 6th August. Capital of North Queensland
and largest city in Queensland's tropical zone,
Townsville is both a delightful place and welcoming
to runners. The flat course passed some of Townsville
most scenic precincts and followed the coast. |
